Mikdad: President al-Assad defined terrorist war on Syria as a war on the Arabs

Beirut, SANA-Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said President Bashar al-Assad has defined Syria’s stance towards the war declared by Israel and its tools in the region, referring to the President’s description of it as a war on the Arabs to destroy their armies and states.

“President al-Assad has also announced, since the beginning of the crisis, that the perpetrators of that war are handfuls of terrorists and killers whatsoever they have been named, and it is a war in the terrorist units, brigades established by Israel, the US, France, Saudi Arabia and Turkey,” Mikdad said in an article published by Lebanese al-Binaa newspaper on Saturday.

He reiterated Syria’s commitment to its rights, saying that Syria is defending the values of its people, and in the Syrian policy, there is no place for illusions or for trading in the principles and red lines.

“It is undeniable that US Secretary of State Kerry would recognize a well-known thing when he said the way to restore peace to Syria essentially passes through negotiations with the Syrian leadership as the only source for any information and instructions, yet, participation in any dialogue, conference or meeting was President Bashar al-Assad,” Mikdad said.

He affirmed that Syria welcomes any positive development in the stances of countries towards the crisis, concluding by saying that the Syrian leadership and people have no desire to prolong this crisis.
