Pakistan holds general Parliamentary elections

Islam Abad, SANA-The voting process in Pakistan’s parliamentary elections concluded Thursday evening and the counting of ballots has started, said a statement from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

As the fifth largest democracy, Pakistan went to polls today. Measures were in place to hold fair and transparent elections in a secure and peaceful environment. Here are Some statistics:

Registered voters across Pakistan – 128.5 million

90,675 polling stations have been set up across the country

5, 121 candidates are contesting 266 National Assembly seats

12,695 candidates are contesting 593 Provincial Assembly seats

882 women candidates across Pakistan for general seats

Another 192 seats are reserved for women in National and Provincial Assemblies
