US aggression causes damage to al-Rahba historic citadel in Deir Ezzor

Damascus, SANA- The Ministry of Culture condemned in the strongest terms the US blatant aerial aggression on the historic Citadel of al-Rahba, located on the bank of the Euphrates River in al-Mayadeen city, Deir Ezzor.

“The aggression violates all international norms and conventions that require the protection and respect of cultural property in accordance with Article 4 of the 1954 Hague Convention,” the Ministry said in a statement.

The citadel dates back to the 9th century AD.

The US occupation forces launched on Saturday a blatant aerial aggression on a number of sites and towns in the eastern region of Syria, near Iraqi borders, leaving many civilian and military martyrs, inuring others and causing huge damage to private and public properties.
