WHO: Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza has been turned into a death zone due to Israeli shelling

Geneva, SANA-The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced its intention to evacuate patients and its staff from al-Shifa Hospital in the besieged Gaza Strip, which has become a target of Israeli bombing and has turned into a death zone.

In a statement quoted by AFP the Organization stated on Sunday that it is working with its partners in the United Nations (UN) to develop urgent plans for the immediate evacuation of the remaining patients, employees and their families.

On Saturday, the WHO led a team of United Nations representatives on a mission to al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, which became a target of Israeli raids, declaring that the hospital has become a death zone and plans must be made for the immediate evacuation of patients and employees.

The World Health Organization explained in its statement that the effects of the bombing and shooting were clear, as the international team saw a mass grave at the entrance to the hospital and more than 80 people were buried there, pointing out that the lack of clean water, fuel, medicine, food and other basic aid over six weeks has caused the largest and most advanced hospitals in Gaza to go out of service.
