Former UN director describes “Israel’s” actions in Gaza as genocide

New York, SANA- The former Director in the New York Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Craig Mokhiber, said that what “Israel” is doing in the Gaza Strip is a genocide, in accordance with the definitions contained therein in the United Nations Convention against Genocide.

“The world witnessed a genocidal massacre against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, while the United Nations completely failed to make an effective response to the situation due to the United States hindering a humanitarian ceasefire,” Mokhiber told Sputnik.

The former commissioner added that this situation has been defined in the United Nations Convention against Genocide and its elements have been identified, which have been evident in the actions of “Israel” in Gaza.

He explained that over the past three decades, the United Nations has become increasingly weaker in its approach to the Middle East.

Craig Mokhiber resigned last Tuesday as director of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in New York in protest against the way UN bodies dealt with the situation in Gaza.
