Damascus, SANA- Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Humam al-Jazaeri discussed Thursday with South African ambassador in Damascus Shaun Byneveldt bilateral cooperation and means of developing it for establishing joint projects.
Bothe sides agreed on preparing a joint work plan between the two countries featuring a suitable mechanism to activate cooperation in the short term, particularly trade and economic cooperation.
The two sides also agreed to hold meetings at the level of technicians from various sectors to facilitate South African investments and increase trade exchange between the two countries.
The minister said that Syrian economy showed signs of recovery in 2014 compared to 2013, forecasting that the energy sector will be the most pressing challenge in 2015.
The minister said he is upbeat about Syrian economy, expecting the trend of recovery to continue into 2015 as he predicted it to achieve a steady growth in case energy carries necessary for production process are provided.
For his part, Byneveldt said meetings between Syria and South Africa are thought to give further momentum for cooperation relations, adding that current circumstances in Syria require exchanging visits to get to know how much it is likely that South Afrixcan companies can be brought in to help in rebuilding Syria.
