Belgrade, SANA. Syrian athlete Abdullah Karim on Thursday won a gold medal in the 84kg freestyle wrestling at the Mediterranean Wrestling Championship being held in Serbia.
Karim won the final match against a Greek wrestler, having earlier defeated athletes from Macedonia, Algeria, and Serbia.
The Syrian team participating in the Championship, which will be concluded on Sunday, is expected to win more medals.
Other than Karim, the team consists of Greco-Roman wrestler Nawzat al-Saleh and freestyle wrestlers Firas al-Rifai’i, Mohammad Sheikhouni, Ghazqan Ladqani,and Raja al-Karrad.
