Civil defense member martyred, two others injured in Lattakia northern countryside

Lattakia, SANA- A member of the Civil Defense was martyred and two others were injured on Thursday as a result of the slide of a fire engine while they were on their way to participate in putting out fires on Deir Hanna-Jouret al-Maa roundabout in Lattakia northern countryside.

Director of the Civil Defense in Lattakia, Brigadier General Jalal Daoud told SANA in a statement that the firefighting vehicle headed to the site to prevent the fire from reaching the houses of the people on Jouret al-Maa direction, adding that the rugged terrain and the sever steepness at al-Kandasiyeh area, causing the sliding of the vehicle in the surrounding valley.

The event resulted in the martyrdom of a civil defense personnel, and injury of two other.

On Wednesday, three members of the civil defense were injured, while working on extinguishing fires and preventing them from reaching the opposite side of Jabal al-Namla in Lattakia countryside.
