Syria rejects hostile draft resolution proposed to Human Rights Council on situation in the country, Ambassador Ahmad

Geneva, SANA-Syria’s permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Haidar Ali Ahmad, said Syria rejects a draft resolution proposed to the Human rights council about the human situation in the country in view of the hostile approach it embodies and the contradictions and breaches it includes.

“How would they claim the objectivity of a draft resolution that pretends respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while one of its main sponsors, the US, is present illegally on the Syrian lands, and it supports a separatist militia that is partner in the acts of aggression and plundering the natural resources of Syria,” Ambassador Ahmad said in a statement before the Council during a session about “the human rights situation in Syria.”

The Ambassador added that the draft resolution gives an example about the distancing from reality, as those who submitted it try to impose biased viewpoints about the status of women and girls in Syria, and deliberately distort facts about the challenges that face them in Syria.
