Damascus, (SANA) On the occasion of winning presidential elections, President Bashar al-Assad received a congratulation cable from Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Hassan al-Bolkiah.
Sultan Bolkiah expressed wishes for Syria to continue its advancement and his desire to work with President al-Assad to develop cooperation and friendship ties between the two countries.

Meanwhile, letters congratulating President al-Assad for his sweeping victory in presidential elections continued to pour in, with Lebanese and Palestinian prominent figures and parties sending him their congratulations.
The letters stressed that the Syrians’ massive turnout to polls rendered futile all attempts to fracture Syria and tear the Syrians’ unity apart.
The Syrian people, by their vigorous participation in the elections, have expressed commitment to national firm principles and spoken out loud against terrorism that has plagued their country, the letters pointed out.
Syria is walking a path of firm principles on which it has never budged an iota, said the letters.
The congratulatory letters came from Former Lebanese premier Salim Hoss, head of the political department of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Farouk al-Kaddoumi, member of the National Leadership of al-Baath Party in Lebanon Assem Kansou, Secretary General of the Lebanese Ummah Movement Sheikh Abdul Nasser al Jabri, Leader of the Lebanese Union Party Abdul-Rahim Murad, among other Lebanese and Palestinian figures and parties.
