Moscow, SANA- The foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey affirmed at the end of their quadripartite meeting in Moscow on Wednesday the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and the necessity of combating the phenomenon of terrorism.
“The ministers held an objective and frank discussion on issues related to the resumption of relations between Syria and Turkey in various fields, and in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2254 and the official statements issued within the framework of the Astana format, they affirmed their commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the ministers said in a press statement issued by the meeting.
The statement highlighted the need to increase international assistance to Syria for the reconstruction of the country, and to facilitate the voluntary, safe and dignified return of Syrians to their homeland.
The participants agreed, according to the statement, to instruct the four deputy foreign ministers to prepare a roadmap for the advancement of relations between Türkiye and Syria, in coordination with the defense ministries of the four countries.
The statement referred to the positive and constructive atmosphere for exchanging views between the ministers during the meeting and the agreement to continue high-level contacts and technical talks in the quadripartite format in the coming period.
