Musa Grotto of Bloudan.. a distinguished tourist destination in Damascus countryside

Damascus Countryside, SANA- Musa Grotto is located in the heart of Bloudan city in Damascus countryside, narrates the tale of merging the human efforts with nature creativity, and constitutes a significant tourist site that attracts the visitors and tourists, in addition, it is a destination which adds to the beauty of Bloudan resort a distinguished architectural artistic style.

The Grotto is a huge cavity in the foothills of Bloudan Mountains, dug by people of the area where these cavities used to get the substance of “mazar sand” that was used for building.

“The grotto was dug by the locals of Bloudan throughout 100 years with the purpose of extracting mazar sand for construction. It was called after the name of its owner Musa Marie who exerted large effort for dozens of years to turn it into a tourist landmark. He started digging works in  1990 to be officially opened in 2006, “As Hassan Abdeen, manager of the Restaurant told SANA reporter.

Abden added that in the Grotto, the tourist will find summer and winter restaurants, an isolated outdoor terrace served by boats, a cafeteria, and a popular market for handicrafts that contains oriental and heritage industries, gifts, antiques, and sculptures, as well as small lakes , including the Lake of Wishing and Blessing, where the visitors come from everywhere.

He added that Grotto is located at depth of 300 meters, on an area of 7000 m2 which provide 40 job opportunities.

Nada Al-Masry, a tourist journey coordinator, pointed out that Bloudan Grotto is considered as one of the important sites for trips that she organizes, and tourists prefer to visit the place for many reasons such as riding the boat, discovering the place from inside …etc…

She added that the tourist groups that accompany her are mainly from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Europe.
