Boroujerdi blames the West’s wrong policies for spread of terrorism in Syria and the region

Tehran, SANA – Chairman of the Iranian Shura Council’s Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security Alaeddin Boroujerdi slammed “the wrong Western policies regarding the situation in Syria,” stressing that it is the incorrect policies which led to the spread of terrorist organizations in the region.

During his meeting with Director of Middle East at British Foreign Office Edward Oakden on Tuesday, Boroujerdi stressed that neglecting Syria’s sovereignty and supporting the passage of thousands of terrorists into it have given rise to the current situation in Syria.

He warned that the continuation of this situation will be in no one’s interest.

The Iranian official also criticized the West’s selective and double standard policy on democracy, free elections and counterterrorism, referring to the West’s indifference towards the legitimate demands of the Bahrainis in establishing free elections according to international standards.
