Mikdad discusses with his Algerian counterpart strengthening bilateral cooperation

Algeria, SANA-The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, held a session of talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Algerian National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, during which they discussed means to activate and strengthen bilateral cooperation mechanisms.

They also discussed various aspects of bilateral relations, and activating the work of the joint higher committee between the two countries, based on its importance in strengthening fraternal relations and coordination on various Arab and international issues of common interest.

Minister Mikdad gave an overview of the latest developments in the Syrian arena in the light of his recent consultations with officials of numerous capitals of Arab and friendly countries, expressing the Syrian vision for ways to develop inter-Arab relations, and the importance of activating bilateral Arab relations and their role in reviving joint Arab action.

He also addressed the achievements made by the Syrian people in their war against terrorism, and the difficulties they face as a result of the unilateral coercive sanctions imposed on them by the USA and Western countries, praising the efforts and humanitarian aid provided by Algeria to Syria after the catastrophe of the earthquake that struck several Syrian governorates.

Minister Ataf congratulated the Syrian leadership, people and government on the occasion of the Independence Day, and expressed the Algerian government’s readiness to activate mechanisms of bilateral cooperation and coordination in all fields, stressing that his country was keen during the past years to preserve Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, stability and to support in confronting the various accumulated and increasing challenges, particularly after the difficult conditions it went through after the earthquake, stressing Algeria’s keenness for Syria to overcome this crisis and, to its return to play its key role on the Arab and international arenas.

Both ministers also discussed the developments on the Arab, regional and international arena and the reality of bilateral relations from various aspects, where it was agreed to find joint mechanisms to advance the pace of bilateral action at all diplomatic and political levels.

At the end of the talks session, the two sides affirmed the continuation of coordination and dialogue between the two countries at various levels, in a way that serves various Arab issues, foremost of which is the basic Arab cause; the Palestinian cause.
