A message from President al-Assad to Algerian counterpart, conveyed by Mikdad

Algiers, SANA- Algerian President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has received Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, who conveyed to him a verbal message from President Bashar al-Assad, which includes his greetings and congratulations to President Tebboune and the Algerian people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

In his message, President al-Assad also thanked the Algerian leadership, government and people for the assistance they provided to Syria to face the ordeal of the earthquake, and for the messages of love, solidarity and sympathy that this aid conveyed to the Syrian people and the deep bonds it reflected between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

Minister Mikdad conveyed President al-Assad’s satisfaction with the relations binding the two brotherly countries, Syria and Algeria, the Algerian support for Syria in its war on terrorism and Algeria’s standing by Syria at all Arab and international forums , highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral relations for the benefit and service of the two brotherly peoples and countries.

For his part, President Tebboune sent his warmest regards to President al-Assad, expressing his great happiness at the progress reached in relations between the two countries, and the achievements Syria has made in its war on terrorism, its steadfastness in the face of conspiracies and its preservation of its sovereignty.

President Tebboune also expressed satisfaction with the developments in the situation in Syria and the breakthroughs in the region, especially with regard to Arab-Arab relations, stressing that Algeria will remain as it has been on the side of Syria.

Minister Mikdad briefed President Tebboune, chairman of the current Arab summit, on the outcomes of the communications between Syria and a number of Arab and friendly countries, the political developments in the region and the world, and the Syrian stances towards them, including President al-Assad’s emphasis on the importance of mobilizing the efforts of all Arab countries to defend their just causes.

He stressed that Syria’s main concern now lies in unifying the efforts of Arab countries and improving Arab-Arab relations in order to preserve their just causes and reject interference in their internal affairs.

President Tebboune affirmed his appreciation for Syria’s position in support of the unity of the Arab position and Arab interests and the achievements Syria has made under the leadership of President al-Assad, stressing Algeria’s stance in support of Syria.

The Algerian president shed light on the importance of unifying Arab positions in the face of all the challenges that the Arab countries are exposed to, and that Algeria’s position was and will remain in defend of the sovereignty and independence of all Arab countries and the return of Arab-Arab relations to the levels of accord and respect for the priorities that unite the people of the Arab nation.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Mikdad reaffirmed the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral relations, coordination and consultation between the two countries in various fields and at all levels to address pressing issues bilaterally, regionally and internationally.

“The conversation during the meeting with His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was heart-to-heart, and I conveyed to him the greetings of his brother, President Bashar al-Assad, and a verbal message confirming the depth of the existing relations between our two brotherly countries,” Mikdad said in a press statement following the meeting.

He added “We are now in the country of one million martyrs from which we always learn lessons on the sacrifices of its great people, on whose side we were and still are, and no one can separate Algeria from Syria.”

“Algeria, in its capacity as the chair of the Arab summit, has assumed great responsibilities and defended the rights of the Arab people everywhere, and the Algerian leadership and the people, have stood by Syria in all the challenges it went through over the last period,” Mikdad said.

He added “I would like to express the warmest greetings of President Bashar al-Assad to the Algerian people and leadership, especially for the sincere support expressed by the Algerian people under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune after the disaster of the earthquake in Syria.”

Mikdad noted that Algeria hosted, after and before the summit, Palestinian delegations in order to unify the Palestinian action within the framework of resisting the attempts of the Zionization of land and people, and this position that Syria shares with Algeria deserves all respect.
