Tokyo, SANA 50 murals representing the most prominent archeological and tourist sites in Syria were displayed at the Syrian heritage exhibition held by the Municipality of the Japanese city of Minnatoko, in cooperation with the Syrian Embassy in Japan.
The exhibition presented explanation of these sites and the damages caused to them as a result of terrorist organizations’ attacks.
The exhibition, which will last till 12 March, also included a section dedicated for the Syrian traditional and handicrafts productions.
Syria’s Charge D’Affaires in Tokyo Warif al-Halabi talked , in a statement in English and Japanese, about the importance of the Syrian cultural heritage, illustrating the systematic destruction
committed at the hands of the terrorist organizations against these treasures.
Al-Halabi hailed the Syrian government’s efforts in protecting this heritage, urging the international community to support these efforts.
He underlined that the event aims at highlighting the importance of the cultural heritage and the challenges facing it in light of some regional and international countries’ support to the terrorist
organizations in Syria.
The Syrian official warned against the growing danger of these organizations which targeted Japan through the killing of the two Japanese hostages at the hand of ISIS terrorists, calling for mobilizing international efforts to support Syria’s efforts in fighting terrorism.
For his part, Director of the International Relations at the Municipality of Minnatoko thanked the Syrian Embassy for fruitful cooperation in organizing this exhibition, appreciating the deep-
rooted cultural heritage of Syria.
The exhibition attracted some Japanese media which participated in its coverage.
