Damascus University, Chilean Bernardo O’Higgins University discuss scientific cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Rector of Damascus University, Dr. Mohammad Osama al-Jabban, discussed with Rector of Chilean Bernardo O’Higgins University, Claudio Roffe Escobar and members of the accompanying delegation, prospects for joint scientific and cultural cooperation, especially in the field of student and professor exchange, the publication of scientific research and the exchange of experiences.

The two sides agreed to sign a joint agreement between the two universities to frame the areas of research and cultural cooperation in various specializations of common interest between the two sides.

The possibility of exchanging scientific visits for professors and students, the participation in conferences and scientific activities organized by both sides, as well as joint supervision of master’s and doctoral research theses were also on the table.

Dr. Al-Jabban affirmed the university’s readiness to develop its relations with Chilean universities and to benefit from the available experiences, especially in the field of seismic research and studies, as well as cooperation in the field of organizing online lectures and the scientific publishing in scientific journals in both universities.

In turn, Escobar hailed the scientific and historical status of the University of Damascus and stressed the desire for scientific and cultural cooperation with it to be a start for cooperation with other Syrian universities.

Escobar added that this is the first visit of the delegation of the Chilean Bernardo O’Higgins University, which has 9,000 students and it comprises various disciplines and it is an exploratory visit to study the capabilities available to both sides and organize mutual coordination.
