Sidney, SANA- The Coptic Orthodox Church in Australia held a mass for the souls of the victims of the earthquake disaster that struck Syria, and a day of donation for the quake-affected people.
In his speech during the mass, Head of the Coptic Church in Australia, Bishop Anba Daniel, talked about the devastating effects of the earthquake and its catastrophic repercussions on the Syrian people in particular in light of the unjust Western siege imposed on them, denouncing the Western coercive measures imposed on Syria.
In turn, the Honorary Consul of Syria in Sydney, Dr. Maher Dabbagh, thanked the Coptic Church and those in charge of it and the brotherly Egyptian people for their honorable stand with their Syrian brothers in their ordeal during this disaster.
Dabbagh’s remarks came in a speech during the mass, which was attended by a large number of worshipers.
Dabbagh said that the Egyptian people embody the depth of the brotherly relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
He pointed out that the blockade and the so-called “Caesar Act” imposed by Western countries increased the suffering of the Syrians as they are going through the greatest ordeal in modern history.
After the mass, a charity bazar was held, the proceeds of which go to those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
