Damascus, SANA- An aid plane from the Republic of Serbia arrived at Damascus International Airport on Thursday, carrying 7 tons of medicines, medical and relief supplies to the earthquake-affected people.
Chargé d’Affairs of Serbian Embassy in Damascus, Marko Mojašević, affirmed, in a statement to journalists, the Republic of Serbia’s solidarity with the Syrian people.
Mojašević noted that the delivery of aid is an evidence of the strength of this solidarity between the two friendly countries.
The Serbian diplomat pointed out that the aid shipment is the first sent by the Serbian Government, where the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, decided to send 240 tons of humanitarian and relief aid in batches.
The aid includes medical supplies and medicines amounting to 1.3 million euros and foodstuffs worth 878,000 euros. The Serbian government has reached conclusions regarding the formation of an operations team to coordinate aid and facilitate transit through the customs area of Serbia, Mojašević said.
