Abdollahian: Unjust blockade on Syria must be lifted to improve humanitarian situation

Geneva, SANA- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has underlined the necessity of lifting the unjust embargo imposed on Syria in order to improve the humanitarian situation in the country.

Unfortunately, the recent earthquake that jolted Syria has worsened the difficult humanitarian situation in some regions compared to the past, therefore it is necessary to lift imposed embargo, IRNA News Agency quoted Abdollahian as saying during his meeting with Under-UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, Martin Griffiths

He highlighted the humanitarian aid provided by Iran to Syria after the recent earthquake, adding that as in the past, Tehran is always ready to cooperate with UN and Special Envoy of the Secretary-General in order to improving health and humanitarian conditions in Syria

In turn, Griffiths expressed his hope of the positive impact of recent political developments on Arab relations with Syria.
