Damascus, SANA- The war on Syria is primarily a cultural and intellectual war aimed at undermining the national identity of the Syrian people and abolishing the culture of coexistence on which the Syrians were raised, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, has affirmed.
Shaaban’s comments came during a meeting in Moocow on Monday evening with Professor Feodor Voitolovsky, Director of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations in Russia.
Shaaban referred to the critical role played by the media at this stage and at every stage, indicating that the war we are facing now is an intellectual war.
She noted that the West possesses a huge media machine that pumps out false narratives that aim to mislead people and divert visions from the correct course of events. It also seeks to promote satanic Western ideas and destroy moral principles in our societies.
Shaaban pointed out that the world is heading today towards the beginning of a new era and a multipolar international order led by China and Russia to end the American arrogance and the Western hegemony.
She affirmed the support of President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian people for the Russian position and decision, which not only seek to defend Russia but also the whole world and the principles of justice and humanity.
In turn, Professor Voitolovsky stated that the United States of America has always pursued a policy of “adding fuel to the fire” in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
He added that the US is indifferent to reaching any peaceful settlement between the two parties, but it is fueling conflicts in the region, financing terrorism and spreading false narratives supported by the misleading US media.
Voitolovsky hailed Syria’s important and supportive role in this pivotal stage.
For her part, Director of the Middle East Research Center, stressed the need for rapprochement between the Russian and Syrian societies and spreading awareness about Western policies aimed at abolishing national identity.
