Kuala Lumpur, SANA- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim launched a donation campaign for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey last Monday, noting that the volume of donations amounted to 50 million ringgits.
The Malaysian Prime Minister also directed his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send a task force composed of various government agencies and some Malaysian non-governmental organizations to stand on the ground, assess the damage and find out the necessary requirements to provide aid to the brothers in Syria.
The team will have additional tasks, in particular the evaluation of the reopening of the embassy in Damascus, and the possibility of contributing to the reconstruction according to the results of the visit.
The Malaysian team left Kuala Lumpur Airport on Tuesday evening, heading to Istanbul, and from there to Beirut, to reach Damascus by land on Wednesday noon.
