Amman, SANA A group of Jordanian youths have launched a voluntary initiative to support the Syrian pound and contribute to raising its exchange rate against foreign currencies by converting any Jordanian amount into the Syrian pound.
This initiative would contribute to supporting the Syrians in light of the difficult circumstances their country is going through as a result of the devastating earthquake.
Mustafa al-Ma’aiteh, a doctor from Karak Governorate, who is the owner of the idea of the initiative, told SANA reporter that the initiative is based on converting any available Jordanian amount into the Syrian pound, even if the amount is one dinar officially without violating the law and without making any profit.
Al-Ma’aiteh added that the initiative aims at supporting the Syrian pound in light of the conditions that Syria suffers from due to the effects of the years of war and the earthquake that jolted the country recently.
He noted that the initiative was welcomed by Jordanians in the various governorates of the Kingdom, who rushed to convert their dinars into the Syrian pound, each according to his financial ability.
