Damascus, SANA- Schools in all provinces, except for the quake-affected areas, have resumed education on Sunday after being suspended last week due to the deadly earthquake which struck Syria last Monday.
All kindergartens and the vocational, public and Sharia schools in all provinces have started receiving students, except for the quake- affected areas in (Aleppo, Lattakia, Hama and Idleb) provinces.
The directors of education in coordination with the governors seek to assess the situation in their provinces and work gradually to resume education in them according to the current situation.
“The students returned to school on Sunday after the temporary suspension that occurred due to the repercussions of the earthquake, after ensuring the safety of the school buildings,” Head of Education Directorate at the Ministry of Education, Imad Hazeem, said in a statement to SANA.
Hazeem added that in the quake-hit areas, schools are still suspended and will gradually return after evaluating the situation in each region and according to developments.
Heads of Education directorates, along with school principals and readiness committees, will study the situation of their schools in the quake-affected areas, and there will be a compensation for the missed classes, according to Hazeem.
