Vienna, SANA- As a part of exerting efforts to confront the disastrous effects of devastating Monday’s earthquake hit Syria, Syria’s permanent representative to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Hasan Khaddour, met Executive Director-General of the United Nations at Vienna, at UN Headquarters.
Ambassador Khaddour briefed Wali on the catastrophic repercussions of the devastating earthquake hit the Syrian regions, in terms of number of victims and wounded, and the destruction of infrastructure and service facilities
He hoped that the UN office in Vienna would be able to provide quick and real support to alleviate suffering of the Syrians during this ordeal.
In turn, Wali stressed her full readiness to cooperate in any possible way in order to provide assistance for the Syrian people, expressing her sincere condolence over the earthquake victims.
Wali expressed her optimism about the news regarding the suspension of sanctions imposed on Syria, especially during this difficult stage, as she noted that there are logistical difficulties hinder the arrival of the aid, such as processes of transfer or movement of ships.
