Mikdad meets Executive Director of WFP, David Beasley

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, discussed on Thursday with the Executive Director of the World Food Program, David Beasley ways to enhance the joint cooperation between the program and various Syrian national bodies, in order to facilitate the work of the program in the country and ensure that more aid reaches its beneficiaries in the best way and away from any politicization that achieves recovery for the Syrians and reduces their dependence on emergency relief aid.

Mikdad briefed his guest the negative effects and repercussions of the terrorist war imposed on Syria, which affected the various developmental achievements of the Syrians, especially with regard to ensuring their food security.

The humanitarian disasters caused by the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, as well as the obstruction of these measures to the efforts made by the Syrian government , were also explained by Mikdad.

He also talked about theft of Syrian oil and wheat by the US occupation forces and their agents, and the dangerous impact of the continuation of these practices on all Syrians,

In turn, Beasley expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Syrian government for the facilitations it provides for the work of the program in the country, praising the high level of cooperation existing between the program and many partners in Syria.

Beasley hinted at a number of issues and ideas the program is working to focus on its projects, thus these projects would have a more effective role in helping Syrians overcome the economic difficulties they are going through.
