Syrian-Sudanese talks on cooperation in agricultural scientific research and education

Damascus, SANA- Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, discussed on Monday with Minister of Agriculture and forestry in the Republic of Sudan, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra,the joint cooperation in the field of agricultural scientific research, the possibility of exchanging scholarships, establishing programs and conducting joint agricultural research.

Meeting with Al-Bushra and the accompanying agricultural and technical delegation, Ibrahim said that the ministry seeks to activate and develop the scientific cooperation agreement signed between the ministries of education in both countries, through coordination and cooperation with the Sudanese ambassador to Syria through exchanging of scholarships in major specializations.

Minister Ibrahim underscored the need to establish joint scientific and research cooperation programs in the fields of livestock and forests that characterize Sudan, and to direct master’s and doctoral theses at universities towards focusing on the required topics.

In turn, Minister Al-Bushra underlined the importance of scientific research and necessity of moving towards science-based agriculture, benefiting from modern technologies in agriculture and irrigation, and investing the outputs of agricultural research optimally.
