Damascus, SANA- Local Administration and Environment Minister, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, discussed on Monday with the Minister of Agriculture and forestry in the Republic of Sudan, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra and the accompanying delegation ways of developing cooperation relations and implementing joint projects, particularly environmental protection and combating climate change, drought and dust storms.
During the meeting, Minister Makhlouf stressed the importance of cooperation between Arab countries affected by the climate change, indicating the role of ACSAD in promoting this cooperation and the establishment of joint projects.
Makhlouf noted that Syria works on combating desertification through afforestation hundreds of thousands of hectares every year.
For his part, Minister Al-Bushra expressed his hop to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation relations.
for turn, director general of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Drylands ACSAD Dr. Nasreddin al-Obeid hailed the provided support by the Syrian government to ACSAD.
