UN General Assembly affirms sovereignty of Syrians over their natural resources in occupied Golan

New York, SANA- The UN General Assembly has renewed the adoption of a resolution affirming the permanent sovereignty of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan, and of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories over their natural resources.

The Assembly adopted on Wednesday the annual resolution entitled “Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources,” with a majority of 159 countries and the opposition of the Israeli occupation entity and seven countries, while 10 countries abstained from voting.

The resolution reaffirmed the inalienable rights of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan, and of the Palestinian people to their natural resources, including land, water and energy resources.

In its resolution, the UN General Assembly called on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop exploiting or destroying the natural resources in the occupied Golan and in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, or causing them to be lost, depleted, or endangered.

It also called for the cessation of all acts harmful to the environment, including the actions carried out by Israeli settlers by dumping waste of all kinds in the occupied Syrian Golan and in the occupied Palestinian territory, which constitutes a serious threat to the natural resources of the population, particularly the resources of water and land, and threatens the environment and the health of civilians and their facilities.
