Damascus, SANA- The Ministry of Health launched on Sunday an oral cholera vaccination campaign in a number of provinces.
The campaign targets all children who are above the age of one in the countryside of Aleppo, Hasaka, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, and will continue until the Dec. 15th.
According to Director of Primary Health Care Department at the Ministry, Dr. Razan Tarabishi the campaign is being implemented through 63 health centers, 685 mobile teams, and with the participation of 2,269 health workers.
Tarabishi added that the vaccine is safe, approved, and used worldwide successfully and has proven its effectiveness, and that the people who cannot receive it are the pregnant and the breastfeeding women, and those with severe diseases.
Dr. Tarabishi affirmed that the epidemiological situation of the disease is under control and in a phase of decreasing, and the basis for disease prevention remains the use of water, eating food from a safe source, in addition to adhering to public health behavior, particularly hand washing.
