9,000 hectares cultivated with wheat and barley in Hasaka province

Hasaka, SANA – The cultivated areas with wheat and barley crops in Hasaka for the current season has amounted to 9,000 hectares, distributed to different areas of agricultural stability under the provincial agriculture sub-plan.

Head of the plant production department in Hasaka agriculture directorate, Jalal Bilal told SANA that areas planted with irrigated wheat in Hasaka have reached 3,530 hectares while areas with the rainfed one have reached 2,320 hectares.”

As for the area cultivated with barley, it has amounted 325 hectares with the irrigated and 2,750 hectares with the rainfed one.

Bilal pointed out that cultivation was concentrated in the southern and eastern areas and in Hasaka countryside, particularly Tal Brak.

It is worth mentioning that the agriculture plan of growing wheat amounts 290,632 hectares of the irrigated and 424,124 hectares of the rainfed one.
