Algerian Ambassador: Syria has always been in hearts of Algerians

Damascus, SANA- The Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Damascus commemorated on Wednesday evening the 68th anniversary of the outbreak of the liberation revolution on Nov. 1st, at the Damascus-based Sheraton Hotel.

In a speech during the ceremony, the Algerian Ambassador to Damascus, Hassan Tohamy, affirmed that Syria has always been present in the hearts of the Algerians, and that the relations between the two countries have been distinguished due to the popular cohesion and the solid historical relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

Tohamy stressed his country’s position on the crisis in Syria, which has been characterized by steadfastness and clarity of vision, as Algeria has always called for finding a political solution through national dialogue between the Syrians that serves their interests and preserves Syria’s sovereignty, stability and territorial integrity.

Tohamy affirmed his country’s adherence to the general principles of its foreign policy based on the principle of respecting the independence and sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, and the principle of resolving crises, conflicts and problems by peaceful means, dialogue and reconciliation away from military solutions and foreign agendas.

In turn, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, said that Algeria has stood by Syria in its war on terrorism, and did not join those who supported terrorism, and the international resolutions at the international organizations.

Mikdad affirmed the justice of the issues of the two brotherly countries, which created consensus and friendship with Algeria, which has always been saying Syria is an integral part of the Arab nation and its conscience.

The Foreign Minister recalled the words of President Tebboune in his last meeting with him that the Algerians have all the love for Syria.

He added that the anniversary of launching the Algerian national liberation revolution against French colonialism, which bears all noble and honorable meanings, is present in the heart of every Syrian who believed in it and considered it an integral part of his history.

Mikdad noted that Damascus is still celebrating unforgettable memories about the role played by the great Algerian Leader Abd al-Qadir al-Jazaeri in Syria.

He praised Algeria’s role towards the issues of the Arab nation, including Syria, and its recent effort to restore unity among the Palestinian people. Therefore, Syria was among the countries that declared its support for this step.

In a statement to journalists, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, said: “What unites the two countries is a history, struggle, a common destiny, and common goals.”

Shaaban referred to the attempts of the two countries to convince the Arab countries that joint action must be a priority because Arabism and the Arabic language unite us, and, and Algeria and Syria’s understanding of this issue is a deep understanding, as Palestine is targeted for being the heart and part of this Arab nation.

Shaaban affirmed that Algeria’s stances towards Syria during the terrorist war from which it suffered were honorable, and that its recent position to try to unite the Palestinian factions indicates Algeria’s deep and real concern for the Arab nation, and everything that President Tebboune and Minister Lamamra said recently indicates that Syria is the beating heart of Arabism.

On the other hand, Shaaban described the Algerian liberation revolution as legendary with its path and victory, and it sets an example for all peoples suffering from occupation and aspiring for freedom, because women, men, children and everyone stood in the face of an occupation that lasted for one hundred and thirty years, and it was a brutal occupation.
