Geneva, SANA- The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has chartered the first vessel to transport Russian fertilizers to African countries, WFP Executive Director David Beasley wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
As Beasly said, it is “the first of many vessels that will transport critical supplies of Russian fertilizer to nations across Africa.”
“Protecting the Black Sea Grain Initiative is critical to stemming the tide of global hunger and famine in the months ahead,” he wrote.
Earlier, the Uralchem and Uralkali group of companies announced that they agreed on a humanitarian shipment of fertilizers, which were blocked in the Netherlands, Belgium and Estonia.
The first shipment of 20,000 metric tons will be loaded onto a WFP ship, heading via Mozambique for Malawi, in the Netherlands on November 21.
