Mikdad, Pedersen discuss issues of common interest, latest developments in Syria

Damascus-SANA-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, the latest developments related to issues of common concern, along with the latest developments in Syria.

Pedersen briefed Mikdad with his recent visits to a number of countries, the meetings he held with officials in these states, and the efforts made to resume the work of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution.

Minister Mikdad stressed that “the continued U.S. and Turkish occupation of Syrian lands, in addition to the continued Israeli occupation of the Golan, and the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian lands; all that violate Syria’s sovereignty, the international law and UN Charter, and threaten peace and security in the region”, calling on the United Nations to fulfil its role in this regard.
