Moscow,SANA Damascus University and Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University signed Tuesday an agreement on bilateral cooperation in the fields of scientific research.
This came on the sidelines of the first Russian-Syrian international conference opened Tuesday on Ibn Sina methods.
The agreement stipulates on exchanging medical expertise and offering scholarships for Syrian students at the university of Sechenov.
It was signed by the Head of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama al-Jabban, and the President of Sechenov University, Pyotr Glybochko, in the presence of the Syrian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, and the Russian Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko.
“The first Russian-Syrian conference on Ibn Sina methods is of special importance as it comes a culmination of scientific research cooperation among the Syrian Ministry , and the two Russian Ministries of Higher Education and Science and the Health,” Minister Ibrahim said in statement to reporters following the signing the agreement.
This conference includes important lectures presented by Syrian and Russian researchers who teach at universities and work in hospitals, Ibrahim added ,noting that the conference with all its research papers are shown via the Internet on the amphitheater of Medicine Faculty at Damascus University.
Minister Ibrahim indicated that the second conference will be held next April in Damascus, stressing that relations between Syria and Russia are in constant evolution under the support of the Syrian and Russian leaderships.
In turn, Minister Murashko said: we agreed to follow up on joint cooperation for exchanging experiences to improve the health situation in Syria, indicating that there is a great demand for the treatment of cancer and malignant tumors as Russia has great capabilities for treating these diseases, and produces large quantities of various medicines and medical drugs to treat various bacterial diseases.
