Mikdad: Syria continues efforts to rebuild what has been destroyed by terrorism

New York, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, has affirmed the Syrian state’s continuation of its efforts to enhance security and stability on all its lands, improve the humanitarian situation, rebuild what has been destroyed by terrorism, and facilitate the return of refugees.

Mikdad’s remarks came during a meeting with a group of the Syrian community members in the United States on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly.

Mikdad presented a comprehensive presentation of the developments in Syria, in particular the amnesty decree No. /7/ which is of exceptional importance in its legal, social and political nature and reflects an advanced stage within the framework of the will and continuous efforts of the Syrian state to consolidate national reconciliation.

The Minister referred to the negative impacts and repercussions of terrorism, the economic blockade and the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union on Syria, which cause great suffering to its people.

He added that although the terrorist war left negative impacts on the Syrian people, it failed to achieve its goals, as it hasn’t been able to break Syria’s will and isolate it from the world.

Mikdad listened to the proposals of the members of the community regarding the completion of consular transactions and the difficulties they face as a result of the US administration’s closure of the Syrian embassy in Washington and its honorary consulates in the United States.

He stressed the keenness of the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry to find practical solutions and alternatives to alleviate this suffering and meet the consular needs of the members of the Syrian community.

In turn, members of the community stressed their support for their homeland, Syria, and their appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Syrian Arab Army in defeating terrorism and the efforts made by the state to provide the basic needs of citizens and its interest in taking care of the affairs of expatriates abroad.
