Cuba affirms its firm stance in support of Syria

Havana,SANA- Cuba has renewed its firm position in support of Syria and its strong condemnation of the terrorist war imposed on it since more than ten years ago.

Angel Villa Hernandez, Acting Director of the Department of Bilateral Relations at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed his country’s rejection of all unilateral coercive measures and measures that escalate the difficulties of living of the Syrian people.

Hernandes comments came during a meeting with Chargé d’Affairs on behalf of the Syrian Embassy in Cuba Ali Abbas at the ministry’s headquarters in Havana on Thursday on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He also stressed his country’s readiness to provide all possible assistance to the brothers in Syria.
Hernandez hailed the long march of the distinguished relations between the two countries, which are built on the foundations of defending the values of equality and justice and working to consolidate international peace and security.

In turn, Abbas stressed that Syria and Cuba were able to found a distinguished relation that extended over many decades and increased in depth and strength under the leadership of Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Miguel Diaz-Canel, which also emerged in President Diaz-Canel’s initiative to send 240,000 doses of vaccine against the Corona virus in support of Syria.

Abbas voiced Syria’s appreciation for the positions of the Republic of Cuba in support of it against conspiracies and the war it is facing, especially at international forums and organizations, saying that Syria stands by Cuba’s leadership and people in the face of the unjust American blockade imposed on it for decades.
