Damascus, SANA- UNESCO’s National Committee discussed Wednesday a working paper before presenting it at Transforming Education Summit to be held next September on the sideline of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
The discussions of the paper, that is on developing education during wars and catastrophes and entitled “Education in the Syrian Arab Republic”, were conducted during a meeting of the committee at the Education Ministry building.
The committee, which includes representatives from relevant ministries, national bodies and community-based organizations, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with UNESCO in the areas of competence, activating electronic correspondence to facilitate the work mechanism.
It also underlined the importance of supporting Syrian participation in international conferences, providing the National Committee with reports on the participations periodically, along with nominating various specialized competencies and adopting proposals that contribute to developing work.
The Minister of Education and Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, highlighted, during his virtual participation, the need to submit observations and proposals about the working paper that will be submitted to Summit, indicating that it must be comprehensive and full of national education programs and strategies, which would have a great impact on its development.
