Deir Ezzor, SANA- Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Mohammad Hassan Qatana stressed the necessity of marketing the whole production of wheat crops in Deir Ezzor Province, expansion of planting cotton and increasing the areas farmed with yellow maize to secure the local needs.
Qatana said, during a meeting with peasants and livestock keepers, that the government exerts all efforts to provide the production requirements in addition to establish yellow corn drying projects and provide needed support to them.
The Minister toured the cottonfields in al-Marae’iya town in the province and inspected the wheat harvesting process in a number of fields in al-Abed town and the process of marketing wheat production in al-Maiadin center.
In a statement to journalists, Minister Qatana said that the visit aims at following up the situation of the wheat marketing process and inspecting the areas farmed with cotton, corn and other crops in addition to inspecting the areas that should be planted with corn crops and providing the requirements of production to them.
For his part, Deir Ezzor Governor Fadel Najjar said that the areas planted with wheat reached 22,000 hectares, while the areas planted with cotton reached 4,950 hectares.
In Raqqa, Minister of Agriculture inspected the centers prepared to receive wheat crops and toured the cotton and corn fields.
The Minister said in a statement to journalists that the wheat crops is considered as the strategic crops in Raqqa province as the province is one of the pioneer provinces in cultivating and producing it.
The areas planted with cotton in Raqqa province reached 500 hectares.
