Damascus, SANA- Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf discussed with the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani, ways to enhance prospects of cooperation between the two friendly countries in the fields of environment and local administration.
Makhlouf referred to the measures taken by the ministry, in coordination with the concerned authorities, to alleviate the negative effects of the climate change.
He noted to the importance of the existing coordination with Iran in this field after signing a memorandum of understanding with the Environmental Protection Organization in Iran to protect the environment and reduce the phenomenon of sand and dust storms.
Makhlouf pointed out the possibility of joint cooperation in the field of solid waste management, benefiting from the Iranian experience in the local administration and municipalities.
For his part, Sobhani stressed the importance of environment issue that must be worked on between the two countries.
