Syrian-Belarusian talks to establish joint industrial and investment projects

Damascus, SANA Syria and Belarus discussed the establishment of joint truck and bus manufacturing plant in Syria and the implementation of other industrial investment projects to manufacture pharmaceutical and hollow glass and electrical equipment and appliances.

During a meeting which brought together Minister of Industry Kamal-Eddin Touma, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Humam al-Jazaeri and Deputy Chairman of the Syrian-Belarusian Joint Business Council, Inayatullah Hassoun, the attendants reviewed prospects of future trade, industrial and economic cooperation between the two countries that will be tackled in the 6th session of Syrian-Belarus joint committee due to be held by the end of March 2015 in Minsk.

Minister al-Jazaeri called for increasing the volume of intra-trade between the two countries and benefiting from the Belarusian technical development to enhance the capabilities and competitiveness of Syrian companies.

Hassoun underlined the Council’s efforts to open Belarusian markets for Syrian products in a way that serves both sides and contributes to increasing the volume of national industrial exports.

The two sides discussed raising bilateral trade volume to USD 1 billion and the possibility of importing necessary medicine, particularly cancer drugs, from Belarus since their prices are lower in comparison to European countries.
