Geneva, SANA- Syria reiterated its rejection of the British draft resolution on the situation of human rights in Syria, as a model of the politicized resolutions that contradict with the principles of objectivity on which the Council is based and ignores the Takfiri terrorism which threatens the lives of Syrians, the occupation and the economic blockade practiced by sponsors of the draft resolution.
Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office and International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Houssam al-Din Ala, said in a statement during the 49th session of the Human Rights Council on Friday that British draft resolution entitled “Situation of human rights in Syria” presented by Britain is a model for politicized decisions that contradict the principles of universality, objectivity and non-selectivity on which the Human Rights Council is based and established by General Assembly Resolution 60/251 .
Ambassador Ala added that the draft resolution is based in its conclusions on the reports of the so-called International Commission of Inquiry, which proved its failure in adopting an objective and independent approach to the situation in Syria to serve the interests and objectives of the countries sponsoring its mandate.
Ala added that the allegations of full respect for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity in the draft resolution contradict with violations perpetrated on Syria’s sovereignty.
He added that the human rights situation handled by the draft resolution is the result of specific factors, foremost of which is Takfiri terrorism, which continues to threaten the lives of Syrians and the stability of their country with the support and funding of the countries that hold the pen of the draft resolution, acts of aggression, occupation, economic blockade, support for separatist, looting of natural resources, and forced demographic change that It is practiced by those countries.
