Syrian-Armenian relations witnessing rapid development in all domains, Mikdad affirms

Damascus, SANA- The friendly relations between Syria and Armenia have been witnessing a rapid development in all domains in a way that serves both countries’ interests, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad affirmed.

Minister Mikdad’s remarks came in an exchanged congratulatory letters with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Mikdad expressed sincere congratulations and best wishes to the friendly government and people of Armenia.

He reiterated the Syrian government’s aspiration to achieve more progress in order to serve the common interests of the two countries and strengthen the bonds of historical relations between the two peoples, which were sanctified by blood in the face of the genocidal and neo-Turkish policies of the successive Turkish regimes.

Minister Mirzoyan, for his part, expressed his warmest congratulations to the Syrian government on this occasion, stressing that the Armenian-Syrian relations are based on a solid basis of respect and mutual trust.

Mirzoyan said that, since the first day of the crisis in Syria, Armenia has defended Syria’s right to preserve its unity and sovereignty and the right of the Syrian people to self-determination, denouncing the terrorism that targeted it.

He added that his country attaches great importance to the Syrian People’s Assembly’s recognition and official condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, which has become another evidence of the solidarity of the Armenian and Syrian peoples.

The minister concluded his letter by emphasizing his country’s keenness to strengthen Armenian-Syrian relations and move them forward in the interest of both peoples and countries.
