Donetsk, Luhansk, SANA- The representative of the People’s Forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic Eduard Basurina announced that the city of Mariupol in eastern Ukraine had been besieged.
“Everything is going as planned… Mariupol is besieged and the forces will continue to move in the direction that will eventually help us stop the bombing of residential areas in Donetsk and Luhansk by Ukrainian forces,” Basurina said in a statement to Russia 24 channel.
He added that there will be a negotiation process to persuade the enemy to lay down their weapons, surrender or leave the city so that the civilian population does not suffer, noting that a humanitarian corridor has been opened for the residents to leave the city.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the Donetsk Republic announced that 4 civilians were killed and 30 others were wounded in a shelling carried out by the Ukrainian forces, adding that the Ukrainian forces opened fired 41 times on its territory.
In the same context, the territory of the Luhansk Republic was bombed by Ukrainian forces 9 times, as 7 residential areas were targeted.
The forces of the Luhansk Republic reported that since the beginning of the special military operation, 34 Ukrainian soldiers voluntarily laid down their arms and went to the side of the republic’s forces, and 40 residential areas were liberated from the Ukrainian forces.
The Russian special military operation to protect Donbas continues for the seventh day in a row, amid continuing battles on several fronts.
