Moscow, SANA- The establishment of a high-developed research center in Damascus is an old dream for the Syrian Ophthalmologist, Dr. Yousef Naem Yousef which he seeks to achieve in order to convey his expertise he has gained as the Director of the Russian Institute of Ophthalmology, affiliated to the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Yousef, who was recently honored by Russian President Vladimir Putin for his scientific achievements in the field of ophthalmology told SANA correspondent in Moscow that he dedicates this honor to his country, Syria and its leadership.
He said that the honor is a significant milestone in my career and a great responsibility towards exerting further efforts in the benefit of the ill people.
Dr. Yousef added that he provides medical services to all patients without exception, pointing out that there are huge medical potentials in Russia , asserting that he talked with the Russian Higher Education Minister to open an Efficiency and Expertise Section in the center which he heads; the section is not only specialized in the ophthalmic surgery, but also deals with the illnesses of aging.
Dr. Yousef stressed that he is seeking to establish a high-developed research center in Damascus that would not only serve Syria but the entire Middle East and transfer the available expertise and capabilities to Syria.
Dr. Yousef was born in Daraa Province in 1963, graduated from the Medical Institute in 1989.
Dr. Yousef is currently practicing active surgical work and has performed 40,000 surgeries, most of which involve cataract removal using modern methods and techniques.
