Moscow, SANA- Terrorists continue to use civilians in Idleb as human shields and they target the Syrian Arab Army posts, and this situation cannot be accepted, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said.
“Terrorists are taking civilians in Idleb as human shields, targeting Syrian Arab Army posts, and constantly trying to attack the Russian base in Hmeimim using drones, and of course we cannot accept this situation and our partners know that,” Syromolotov added in an interview with TASS News Agency.
Syromolotov stressed that Russia has contributed to “defeating international terrorism” in Syria, saying “the process of terrorists’ infiltration continues outside the region’s borders, which constitutes a serious threat to international security.”
He noted that the Middle East and North Africa suffer from serious destabilization with growing challenges to regional and international security.
“What further complicates the situation is the terrorists’ focus on sabotaging and recruiting young people in the countries to which they return,” he said.
He stressed that the general situation is exacerbating due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus on the one hand and the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan on the other.
