Hmeimim air defense system downs a drone launched by terrorists

Moscow, SANA – The air defense system in Hmeimim base downed on Monday a drone launched by terrorist organizations positioned in Idleb that was heading towards the base in Lattakia countryside.

“Terrorist groups positioned in the area between the countryside of Lattakia and Idleb launched this morning a weaponized drone that tried to approach the base, but the air defenses immediately shot it down before reaching the base,” Russian Sputnik News Agency quoted a source at the base as saying.

No casualties or material damages were reported, and Hmeimim base continues to operate normally, according to the source.

On September 27th, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the air defense system in Hmeimim base downed a drone launched by terrorist organizations positioned in Idleb that was heading towards the base.

Over the past few months, the air defense system at Hmeimim Base has thwarted scores of attempts by terrorist groups to launch attacks with weaponized drones on safe areas and villages in Lattakia countryside and Hmeimim base from their areas of deployment in the countryside of Idleb and Lattakia.
