Baghdad, SANA- Iraqi President Barham Salih discussed with Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah bilateral relations between Syria and Iraq and situation in the region.
The Iraqi Presidency said in a statement of which SANA received a copy of it that “during the meeting the relations between the two countries which have close and historical ties were discussed, and the importance to develop them to serve the safety, stability, and interests of the two countries, in addition to continuing the fight against remnants of terrorism.”
The Iraqi President affirmed that the countries of the region face a great responsibility to overcome crises, and tensions, pointing out to the need to combine efforts and find joint dialogues to consolidate the pillars of regional stability, and support cooperation and integration among the countries of the region.
He noted that the stability of the region is linked to the stability of Iraq and Syria.
In turn, Ambassador al-Dandah told SANA’s correspondent in Baghdad that “the Iraqi President reiterated his country’s firm stance to support the return of Syria to the Arab League and the importance of cooperation among the countries of the region to face the common challenges.”
He indicated that the Iraq’s government and people seek to develop relations with Syria, as well as continuous coordination at all levels in all regional and international forums.
