Russian Defense Ministry: Syria’s joining to the Collective Security Treaty Organization is possible

Moscow, SANA- Head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, Officer ,Andrey Kartapolov ,said that the joining of Syria to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is possible if this issue is useful  for it and the member states at the organization.

“CSTO charter is not a rigid dogma and it should immediately correspond with the emerging situation” ,meeting with Echo of Moscow Radio Station, the Russian officer said, indicating that he doesn’t rule out Syria’s access to the treaty if the mutual interest can be realized.

The Organization was founded on October 7th in 2002 based on the Treaty signed on May 17th , 1992 including the member states of Russia ,Belarus ,Kazakhstan, Armenia ,Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
