Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said that unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the West on Syria and the looting of its resources by the US are the reason behind the deterioration of humanitarian situation in the country.
Lavrov reiterated during a press conference with his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif Al-Zayani in Moscow on Friday that the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the West on Syria have caused the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in it.
He added that the US illegally deploys its forces in Syria under the pretext of fighting terrorism, loots its oil and resources and obstructs its reconstruction.
Lavrov stressed that international efforts should focus on fighting terrorism in Syria, not occupying its lands or stealing its natural resources.
He added that his country will continue to support Syria in combating terrorism until its final elimination, pointing out to the need for finding a political solution to the crisis in it according to UN resolution no. 2254.
